INTERNET EXPLORER CLOSES UNEXPECTEDLY

September 15, 2006 - Recently our customers have been experiencing Internet Explorer closing unexpectedly on them while using our products. This occurs when viewing any web pages that use custom pop-up objects after installing the security update described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923996/.

For example, after you install security update 918899, this problem may occur when you visit a Web page that uses the custom menus, the custom message boxes, or the custom tooltips that are documented on the following Microsoft Web site: http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/samples/author/dhtml/popup/usingpopup.htm.

The error will look like below:

However please note that this problem occurs because of a regression error in the security update 918899.

We would like to thank Microsoft Support for solving this problem and providing the HotFix for this catastrophic crash issue. You may download the HotFix directly from the following link:

http://www.speediware.com/files/microsoft918899fix.zip

Please download this file and run the installer to update your Internet Explorer. We have tested this fix on our machines and it appears to solve the issue our customers have been seeing.
